Strategic PlanStrategic planning determines the direction an organization is going and how it’s going to get there. There are several important steps in strategic planning; analysis of the current situation, goal setting, and creating an action plan. During an analysis, a clear picture of an organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (a.k.a. SWOT) is obtained along with the analysis of business trends, the market, and the organization’s competition. After analyzing the overall picture, specific and measurable goals are set to address the issues and opportunities facing the organization. Once the goals are established, an action plan including the timeline, needed resources, and budget on how to accomplish the organization’s new goals is developed and laid out. |
